B. SC Nursing ​

Overview

Our B.Sc Nursing is a four-year degree program approved and recognized by the Government of Karnataka, Karnataka Nursing Council, Indian Nursing Council (New Delhi), and affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.

Eligibility

Candidates joining the B.Sc (N) course are expected to fulfill the following criteria:

  • Pass in 10+2/PUC/PDC or vocational Higher Secondary education with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects, (aggregate mark of PCB – 45%).
  • The candidate should have English as a subject.
  • Age 17 years on or before 31st December.
  • Candidate shall be medically fit.

Course Objectives

B. Sc Nursing: Semester Batch

On completion of the B.Sc. Nursing program, the B.Sc. nursing graduates will be able to:

  • Utilize critical thinking to synthesize knowledge derived from physical, biological, behavioral sciences, and humanities, in the practice of professional nursing and midwifery.
  • Practice professional nursing and midwifery competently and safely in diverse settings, utilizing caring, critical thinking and therapeutic nursing interventions with individuals, families, populations and communities at any developmental stage and with varied lived health experiences.
  • Provide promotive, preventive and restorative health services in line with national health policies and programs.
  • Integrate professional caring into practice decisions that encompass values, ethical, and moral and legal aspects of nursing.
  • Respect the dignity, worth, and uniqueness of self and others.
  • Apply concepts of leadership, autonomy and management to the practice of nursing and midwifery to enhance quality and safety in health care.
  • Utilize the latest knowledge and skills related to information and technology to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, peers, and all health care providers.
  • Utilize the requisite knowledge, skills and technologies to practice independently and collaboratively with all health professionals applying the principles of safety and quality improvement.
  • Integrate research findings and nursing theory in decision making in evidence-based practice.
  • Accept responsibility and accountability for the effectiveness of one‘s own nursing and midwifery practice and professional growth as a learner, clinician and leader.
  • Participate in the advancement of the profession to improve health care for the betterment of the global society.

B. Sc Nursing: (Annual Batch) – 2, 3 & 4th Year

On completion of the four year B.Sc. Nursing program the graduate will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge from physical, biological, and behavioral sciences, medicine including alternative systems and providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities.
  • Demonstrate understanding of life style and other factors, which affect health of individuals and groups.
  • Provide nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skill in making decisions in all situations in all situations in order to provide quality care.
  • Utilize the latest trends and technology in providing health care.
  • Provide promotive, preventive, and restorative health services in line with the national health policies and programmes.
  • Practice within the framework of code of ethics and professional conduct, and acceptable standards of practice within the legal boundaries.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals and groups, and members of the health team in order to promote effective interpersonal relationships and teamwork.
  • Demonstrate skills in teaching to individuals and groups in clinical/community health settings.
  • Participate effectively as members of the health team in health care delivery system.
  • Demonstrate leadership and managerial skills in clinical/community health settings.
  • Conduct need based research studies in various settings and utilize the research findings to improve the quality of care.
  • Demonstrate awareness, interest and contribute towards advancement of self and of the profession.
